This is one of the first films that truly shocked and scared me, as it is really terrifying in its plain brutality and stark portrayal of the second world war from a very human perspective. The shell shock scenes are some of the most poignant that I can remember seeing.

Idi i smotri download free online. First of all I could mention that the movie itself was one of the most intense movies I have ever seen. From the first part of the movie, we see main character struggling to find a weapon, that he will use to join militia forces. Sound of a plane and a plane itself that appears during that scene creates absolutely intense and scary feeling, creating strange feeling towards his choice to join militia.
Second of all movie's plot points and acts are unpredictable. At first you might think that after joining militia, he and he alone will save the Belarussians from terrible life that they're in. Fortunately story shifts so powerfully that every single step is absolutely shocking. When I saw the scene in woods, after main character met the girl, for one second only, I thought this is going towards Hollywood love story. But what happened next absolutely demolished any ideas of boy and girl being together. One more thing - special effects - the way they present the explosions is incredibly realistic and can be put in documentary category.
The acting in the film is astonishing. The idea that the actors are always close to the explosions is very terrifying. And of course the scene with the swamp is one of the best struggle scenes ever. No one really knew what is inside the swamp and what might happened. The scene is presented in such a realistic way, that sometimes I felt like being there and seeing them.
The last thing that I would like to mention is the whole story of a movie. Although the movie is about one boy, who becomes a man, while trying to survive, we constantly feel the pain of people that suffered consequences of the war. I am from country that is incredibly close to the Belarussia and I have always heard the stories and learned the facts and numbers about what happened and thanks to this movie, people that were not aware of what was happening in that part of the world were introduced to the pain and suffer that Belarussians went through.

Bryan Stevenson, Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption
Attorney Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) is the model of perseverance as he defends in the late '80's Walter McMillian, a black man in Alabama (To Kill a Mockingbird's Monroeville, ironic enough) over corrupt murder charges. Although the arc of defense is usually the same in reality as well as this drama, Just Mercy, each incident will hit fair minded audiences in the gut each time.
Director Dustin Daniel Cretton keeps the pace of Bryan's investigation apace, from the early days as a new Harvard trained lawyer to the journey to the Alabama Supreme Court and back. During that time the audience gets a stark reminder that standing up against bigotry and corruption (Alabama cops do not come off like justice driven officer) as Stevenson does is not for the weak, but definitely for those who seek justice, especially for underserved minorities.
Although Walter having been unjustly convicted is established early on, it's the undoing of that conviction (Walter is awaiting his execution date) that provides suspense, with multiple incidents of denial in the court system. Meanwhile Stevenson (he wrote the account on which the film is based) gives a few too many Hollywood-like speeches about the prejudice that allows an innocent man to lose part or all of his life fighting a system that caters to the wealthy and the white.
The strength of this predictable drama, unavoidable given the story is based on a real drama that is replayed in courtrooms daily, and it seems in the South more often than normal, is the depiction of helplessness for the unjustly convicted and the efficacy of tenaciousness joined to truth. The corrosion of justice and the heroism of humane people is on display and a reminder that never giving up is the antidote to hopelessness.
Hope is the dominant motif of Just Mercy, and it's just and merciful.

General James Harold “Jimmy” Doolittle (1896-1993) was a pioneering pilot, aeronautical engineer, combat leader and military strategist whose career stretched from World War I to the height of the Cold War. He is most famous for leading a daring bombing raid over Tokyo in 1942, the first American attack on the Japanese mainland. Doolittle’s 16 planes dropped their bombs and then, lacking fuel to return to their carrier, flew on to crash-land in China and the Soviet Union. Jimmy Doolittle: Early Years James Harold “Jimmy” Doolittle was born in Alameda, California, but spent much of his childhood in western Alaska. His father, Frank, was a gold prospector and carpenter in Nome, where young Jimmy learned to fight bullies and pilot a dogsled. Eventually Rosa and Jimmy Doolittle returned to California, leaving Frank behind. Jimmy attended high school in Los Angeles, where he distinguished himself as a gymnast and boxer. He then began courses at the University of California at Berkeley’s School of Mines. Jimmy Doolittle: First Flights In 1917 Doolittle became a flying cadet in the U. S. Army Signal Corps. He was soon soloing and serving as a flight gunnery instructor. He later requested a transfer to the European theater, but the armistice dashed his dreams of combat. Instead, Doolittle worked at the Army’s Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas, before returning to Berkeley to complete his degree. In 1922 he became the first pilot to fly coast to coast in under 24 hours, making the journey from Florida to California with just one stop. The Army sent him to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned master’s and doctoral degrees in aeronautical engineering. He spent the rest of the decade working as a test pilot for military and civilian planes, setting air race records and helping to develop instruments that allowed pilots to fly in whiteout conditions. In 1930 he left the army for higher-paying work at the Shell Oil Company, where he pressed for the adoption of advanced aviation fuel. Jimmy Doolittle: The Doolittle Raid Returning to the army full-time in 1940, Doolittle continued his test pilot work until January of 1942, when he was summoned by General Henry H. “Hap” Arnold to lead a raid on the Japanese mainland. At the time Japan’s defensive perimeter in the Pacific was wide enough to make it invulnerable to conventional carrier-based attacks. Sixteen Army B-25 bombers were rigged with doubled fuel capacity and loaded on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. The original plan called for bombing five major cities, but last-minute detection of the Hornet forced the planes to launch a day early. With Doolittle in the lead, the planes survived storms and anti-aircraft fire to drop four bombs each on Tokyo, striking industrial facilities and a light cruiser. Several bombs hit civilian areas, killing 50 and injuring 400. The Doolittle Raiders, as the planes’ pilots became known, flew on toward China. They had planned to land in areas controlled by Chinese Nationalists, but all ran out of fuel and crashed. Most of the crews parachuted to the ground, where with local help they were able to reach the Nationalist lines. One crew landed in Vladivostok and was interned by the Soviets. Three died in the crashes, and eight were captured by the Japanese. Jimmy Doolittle: Aftermath of the Raid In America the raid was cause for celebration. The 45-year-old Doolittle, who had worried he would be court-martialed for missing his primary targets, was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and promoted two ranks to brigadier general. The attack was a psychological blow for the Japanese, who moved four fighter groups from the war’s front lines to protect their cities. Following the raid, Japanese battalions killed 250, 000 Chinese civilians in areas suspected of aiding the American airmen. Jimmy Doolittle: War Strategy, Final Years Doolittle was given a series of command roles in North Africa and Europe, eventually leading the powerful Eighth Air Force with its 42, 000 combat aircraft. He modified U. bomber escort tactics, freeing fighters to pursue their German counterparts. Doolittle’s last significant mark on U. policy came in a classified report on covert operations for Dwight Eisenhower in 1954, which stated that for Cold War espionage, “acceptable norms of human conduct do not apply. ” In 1959 Doolittle retired as a lieutenant general and returned to an executive position at Shell. In 1985 Ronald Reagan promoted Doolittle to a full four-star general. Doolittle died on September 27, 1993, at age 96.

Abortion is a contentious issue, and I imagine an indie film about it that doesn’t have movie stars won’t draw in anyone who hasn’t already made up their minds about being pro-choice or anti-abortion. And yet, watching Eliza Hittman ’s moving drama, my concerns about the film’s efficacy of its advocacy slipped away as I was drawn further into the crushing normalcy of a casually cruel system that makes women endure an endless barrage of indignities. Watching the two young women at the center of Never Rarely Sometimes Always is devastating it just because of the incredible performances and confident direction, but because we know that the experience depicted is heartbreakingly common among women seeking an abortion. Autumn ( Sidney Flanigan) is a 17-year-old living in rural Pennsylvania who learns she has an unplanned pregnancy. Unable to tell her parents about it and with the local clinic pressuring her to give birth, Autumn confides in her cousin and friend Skylar ( Talia Ryder). Together, they decide to go to New York City where Autumn will be able to get an abortion. However, as they make the trek by bus and subway and from clinic to clinic, the two teenagers are frequently confronted by their lack of money, a support system, and an onslaught of terrible men looking to prey upon them at every turn. What should be a simple procedure for a young woman who wants control of her body and her life instead becomes a harrowing odyssey fraught with roadblocks. Because abortion is a hot-button issue (I’m a priveleged white guy, so I get to refer to abortion as an “issue” removed from myself because no one will ever pass a law telling me what I can and can’t do with my reproductive organs), some folks won’t be able to see anything more in this story. It will be an “issue” film and because it’s an indie, one that’s unlikely to change opinions. If you’re anti-abortion, you’ll feel repulsed by Autumn’s choices and think she’s a baby killer. If you’re pro-choice, you’ll be reminded to donate to Planned Parenthood. Viewing the film through the lens of advocacy narrows Never Rarely Sometimes Always because then it’s only judged by what it does or does not accomplish on a societal level, which is an impossible burden for any single movie. Image via Focus Features Instead, Never Rarely Sometimes Always is best viewed not as a movie about changing hearts and minds as much as making it as experiential as possible. To use a recent example, the movie 1917 has a clear point of view on the nature of war, but it chooses to tell its story by attaching you to two people who could stand in for countless others. That’s a difficult needle to thread because you don’t want your lead characters to be ciphers, but you also want their story to be broad enough to encompass similar tales. Hittman manages that balance perfectly as we can’t help but empathize with the plight of Autumn and Skylar. Everything about these two teenagers feels lived-in and authentic in terms of their chemistry and their struggle without simply making them stand in for every economically disadvantaged teenager looking to terminate an unwanted pregnancy. Both actresses are a revelation here and they demand our compassion not through big, dramatic speeches, but through little moments. When Autumn is answering a questionnaire at Planned Parenthood, Hittman keeps the camera locked in on Flanigan’s face and we’re told an entire story without ever having to hear the exact narrative. That’s not to keep Autumn’s tale vague, but because Hittman trusts us to understand what has happened while staying true to her protagonist’s stoic nature. Autumn isn’t much of a talker, but we need to understand where exactly she’s coming from, and the questionnaire scene broke me. The whole film is hard, but the questionnaire scene absolutely broke me. Hittman doesn’t need to get flashy or swing for a big moment because what hooks you about Never Rarely Sometimes Always is the “normalcy” of it all. There’s nothing spectacular about the lack of abortion providers or the hidden costs of trying to obtain an abortion or the “clinics” that deceive young women to suit an anti-abortion agenda rather than the needs of the patient. All of this is treated as normal in America and it leads to a teenager like Autumn punching herself in the stomach in her bedroom hoping to induce a miscarriage. I don’t know who that system works for, but it certainly doesn’t work for the person who’s actually pregnant. It would be nice to say “Reasonable people can disagree about abortion, ” but Never Rarely Sometimes Always shows why that’s not true. There’s a real cost to how this system is set up, and Hittman perfectly walks us through what that cost entails. If you think the only thing it costs is disagreement, then you’re probably not worried about a situation like Autumn’s. You’re free to dismiss this movie as pro-choice propaganda, but the pro-choice crowd isn’t out here setting up fake abortion clinics to dupe pregnant women. You can call Never Rarely Sometimes Always just another aborition movie, but the likely Best Picture winner isn’t treated as just another war movie. I guess that says something about which battles the world considers worthy of attention. Never Rarely Sometimes Always is about two women fighting through a cruel hell of our own devising. Don’t tell me it doesn’t matter. Rating: A Never Rarely Sometimes Always opens in theaters March 13th. People should really study Embryology and the gestation of humans before making assumptions regarding abortion. There are even tumours who are histological more complex than embryos. And the way we perceive pain is through a complex nervous system, not because it has a heart. To all the Christians out there, go read the ensoulment of the embryo by St. Thomas which only happens in the third trimester and stop using religion as an argument, because, as a catholic, you denigrate Christianity and science.
